Anemia is defined as a decrease of the hemoglobin concentration in peripheral arteries below 13 g/100 ml and 11 g/100 ml in men and in women, respectively. It should be noted that in some types of anemia the number of red blood cells remains unchanged, but hemoglobin structure is defective. If the anemia has a slow evolution, the human body can adapt without producing any symptoms. The hemoglobin concentration can decrease up to half without producing any clear signs of the disease.
Anemia often can also be a symptom of a number of underlying diseases.
Symptoms include: weakness, tiredness, dizziness, clearly anemic gingiva and eyelids, tachycardia, hemorrhage of the tongue and in the oral cavity, numbness of legs, nausea and diarrhea.
Anemia is commonly caused by iron deficiency or hemorrhages at the level of the gastrointestinal system, or it occurs in women who loss a considerable amount of blood during menstruation. Vitamin B 12 or folic acid deficiency can also cause anemia.
GLUCOFER PLUS is a product intended for the treatment of this disease, which contains iron gluconate, vitamin B2 and B12, beta-carotene and folic acid. Vitamin C enhances the absorption of these substances. One capsule should be taken every day for 40 days before meals and with plenty of fluids.
In order to prevent anemia, a diet with high iron content (beans, liver, dehydrated fruits and oily seeds), with an increased level of folic acid intake (citric fruits, spinach, soy, corn germs and mushrooms) and with a high level of vitamin B12 (liver, lamb or beef meat, cheese, fish and egg) is recommended.
