ULCERATIVE-HEMORRHAGIC RECTOCOLITIS

Ulcerative-hemorrhagic rectocolitis is an inflammatory and ulcerative condition localized at the level of the colon and rect. It is characterized by diffuse ulcerous lesions of the rect and colon mucous membrane, which initially are only superficial, but are scattered all over the mucous membrane and can lead to complications with hemorrhagies and perforations. Ulcerative-hemorrhagic rectocolitis has an unpredictable evolution marked by remissions and acute episodes. Complications can occur with a high mortality rate in the violent forms of the disease.
Symptoms include: constipation, frequent sensation of defecation, bloody stools (melena), abdominal pain, arthrosis, visual disorders, fatigue and loss of weight. This disease can progress to cancer, and the risk of becoming malignant significantly increases within ten years after the onset.
